Mr. Renson Madarang
Program Director
Conductor - Band & Choir
Born and raised on the island of Oʻahu, Renson Madarang attended the Kamehameha Schools where he received music lessons from the age of 9. His first instrument, the saxophone, became Renson’s source for musical inspiration and expression; earning him several televised solo performances and opportunities to perform around the United States and China. During his undergraduate studies, Renson pursued vocal performance and conducting. As an educator, he has worked as a Guest Lecturer with UH West Oʻahu's GEAR-UP Holomua Project and lectured collegiate-level courses in Music Appreciation. As a conductor Renson served as interim Choral Director at Windward Community College, Assistant Director of Choral Music at Leilehua High School, and Music Director for the Kaleoaloha Keiki Choir. Renson has also performed regularly as a conductor and tenor soloist with the Bach Chamber Orchestra and the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, as well as with members of the Hawaiʻi Symphony. At LCH he has been featured in over 200 works, including several world, US, and Hawaii premieres. In the studio, Renson has been busy as a recording artist for Disney, and has also recorded the leading role alongside soprano Rachel Schutz in Rubenstein and Lee’s “Romance of the Western Chamber”. Renson received his Bachelor of Arts in Music specializing in Voice/Conducting and is currently finishing his Master of Music from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
